english as a second language

the world at our door.

English as a Second Language (ESL) teaches adults of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures how to read and speak the world’s most widely used language by setting up classrooms of small groups at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Every week our teachers prepare skill-appropriate classes and welcome the nations with joy, enthusiasm, and patience as students learn one of the most challenging of languages. After an hour of training, everyone gathers together for snacks as we continue to practice what we’ve learned.

With a deep commitment to serving our community, there is no cost for our program and you can join at any time.

ESL class on Wednesday evenings

We have an online ESL class for students intermediate and higher from 7:00-8:30 on Wednesday evenings. Please email esl@erbc.ca for more information and the link to join the class.

Ellerslie Conversation Café (ESL)

You are invited to attend our free, online Conversation Café on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, beginning March 2, 2021.  The  Conversation Café will give you an opportunity to speak with Canadians who are patient and want to help you learn!

Each week we talk about a different topic, such as food, stress, and holidays.  After reading and answering questions about the topic, we discuss parts of the Bible that relate to the topic.  At the end of the Café, we discuss idioms that apply to the topic.  Idioms can be confusing in conversation so we'll try to help you understand them.

Please email Lesli to receive information and links for either the ESL Conversation Cafe or ESL Class.
