Questions

What do you mean when you say you are a Christian?

In the simplest of terms being a Christian means imitating the life of Jesus. A Christian is a person who has decided to live out Jesus’ character, his behavior and his teachings. Being a Christian isn’t as much about church as it is about getting to know Jesus. So a church is a place that facilitates knowing God and worshiping him … imitating his Son and learning what impact that has for your life.

Do I have to go to church to find out about faith?

No, you don’t. In fact many people have encounters with God outside of church. However, learning is generally enhanced when we learn with others. We can learn from people who have devoted years to the study of Christian faith. We can learn from people who have lived more of their life in the context of faith. We all face difficult situations in life. Life can throw anyone a curve ball – anytime. We learn by watching how others respond – and we can learn a lot about a persons faith by just ‘doing life with them’. Church is a place to learn about life, faith, relationship and giving thanks for his interaction with us. It is a place to belong.

What is Worship?

That’s a loaded question! A great question! Pretty much all of us worship something… we love money & therefore devote ourselves to making more! We love power so we invest ourselves into climbing the corporate ladder. We love people so we spend all of our time staying connected, being on FaceBook and texting so that we don’t ever have to be alone. Worship is when we love something and our lives are governed or devoted to what we love. So … for us, worship is not so much about what we do but how we live. We want to spend our lives in a way that shows our heart belongs to God.
